2027 is the Year of the Fire Goat (丁未, Ding Wei): a small, steady fire sitting on dry late-summer earth. In Korean saju, that makes 2027 a year for finishing what 2026 started, and whether it's a good year for you depends on your own birth chart.
Most zodiac forecasts stop at the animal. Goats get a paragraph, Oxen get told to be careful, and everyone moves on. Saju, the Korean way of reading a person from their birth date and hour (the same system is called BaZi in China), asks one more question: how does this year actually land on you? The same 2027 can feel like relief to one person and like a heatwave to another.
What does the Year of the Fire Goat mean?
The Year of the Fire Goat means a candle-like fire burning on dry summer earth: gentler than 2026's blaze, and slow to go out. In saju, every year carries two characters. The top one is the energy coming down from the sky that year. The bottom one is the energy in the ground, and that's where the zodiac animal comes from. For 2027, the pair is Ding (丁) and Wei (未), so the 2027 BaZi year pillar is Ding Wei: Yin Fire over Yin Earth.
Ding is fire, but not the same fire as 2026. If the Fire Horse year was the midday sun, 2027 is a candle or a lantern. It won't light up the whole room, but it doesn't go out easily either. It burns low and long.
Wei is the Goat. As a piece of land, it's late-summer soil: still warm from months of sun, and bone dry.
Put the two together and you get one picture. A late-summer evening just after sunset, a dry field still holding the day's heat, and a single lantern glowing in the middle of it.

2026 was a fire that spread outward. 2027 is that heat settling down and cooking slowly from the inside. So I read 2027 as a year for letting the fires you lit in 2026 burn all the way through, until something is actually finished.
Is 2027 a good year for you?
2027 is a welcome year if your chart runs cold and a draining one if your chart already runs hot. On its own, a year isn't good or bad.
Think of it as weather. 2027 is hot and dry. Whether that feels welcome or miserable depends on what you walked out the door wearing. In saju, what you're wearing is your birth chart, a snapshot of the moment you were born.
Some charts run cold. People born in winter, or whose charts carry a lot of Water, are the ones in a puffer jacket. For them, 2027 is the day the sun finally comes out. Things that were stuck start to move, and the projects that kept getting pushed back pick up momentum.
Others already run hot. People born in summer, or with plenty of Fire in their charts, are standing there in a T-shirt while the sun keeps pouring down. Coming right after 2026, that's a second layer of heat. Expect more impatience and faster burnout. For these people, the job in 2027 is to slow down.

What's in your chart comes down to five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. If you want a feel for how they show up in a personality, how the five elements shape the way you love is a good place to start.
So take any list of "lucky signs for 2027" with a grain of salt. A Goat born in the dead of winter and a Goat born in high summer share a sign, and they are not having the same year.
By sign, the short version goes like this. The Ox clashes hardest with the Goat in 2027, while the Horse, the Pig, and the Rabbit get along with it best. The full rundown for all twelve signs is in a separate post.
Why your Chinese zodiac sign only tells part of the story
Your Chinese zodiac sign is just one of the eight characters in a saju chart, so on its own it says little about how your year will go. The sign comes from your birth year; the other seven characters come from your birth month, day, and hour.
Think of it as a graduation year. Tens of thousands of people share it, and it tells you almost nothing about any one of them. Everyone born in the same year gets the same sign. (There's more on this in why saju goes deeper than your zodiac sign.)
The character that stands for you in saju is a different one: the top character of your birth day, called your Day Master. If your sign is your graduation year, your Day Master is closer to your name. Whether 2027 turns into a year of piled-up work, incoming money, or people wearing you out says far more about your Day Master than about your sign.
Born in a Goat year, but this person's card is a Dragon.
That's also why Qiora's animal cards are built from your birth day, not your birth year. Enter your birth date and time, and Qiora's saju calculator will find your Day Master and your animal card for free. See your saju chart free
Calculators disagree on Day Masters more often than you'd expect, especially for people born close to 11 p.m. What makes a saju calculator accurate explains why.
Is 2027 a cursed year?
No. The "Red Horse, Red Goat calamity" you may run into while searching 2027 forecasts is an old belief about the fate of nations, and it doesn't apply to any one person's chart. It holds that a Fire Horse year followed by a Fire Goat year, a pairing that comes around once every 60 years, brings great upheaval. It goes back to a 13th-century scholar in Song dynasty China who combed through the historical record, listed the wars and rebellions that fell in those years, and presented his findings to the emperor.
It's a good story, but it was never meant as a personal forecast.
Frequently asked questions
Is 2027 the year of the goat or the sheep?
Both. The original Chinese character, 羊, covers goats and sheep alike, which is why English uses both words. Either way, it's the same year.
What is the BaZi element of 2027?
Fire over Earth. The 2027 BaZi year pillar is Ding Wei (丁未): Ding is Yin Fire and Wei is Yin Earth, the dry soil of late summer. Because the fire feeds the earth beneath it, 2027 reads as a warm, dry year in both saju and BaZi.
What is the lucky color for 2027?
The color of 2027 is the red of fire. In saju, though, your lucky color doesn't change from year to year. It's the color of whichever element your chart is short on. If your chart already runs hot, black or deep navy (the colors of Water) will do more for you in 2027 than red.
Which zodiac signs are lucky in 2027?
By sign alone, the Horse, the Pig, and the Rabbit get along best with the Goat. But your sign is one character out of eight, so two people with the same sign can have very different years.
Is 2027 a good year to get married or have a baby?
One year's forecast can't decide that for you. Marriage depends on both people's charts, and a baby's temperament comes more from their birth day than their birth year. If you're weighing a wedding, a baby, or a move in 2027, we wrote a separate guide.
What does 2027 mean for people born in 1967?
1967 was also a Fire Goat year. For anyone born then, 2027 is when the exact two characters of their birth year come back after 60 years. Across East Asia, that birthday has long been celebrated as the one that completes a full cycle of life.
The weather in 2027 is the same for everyone, so the useful thing to check is what you're wearing. Qiora's Annual Reading does that: it reads how 2027 meets your chart and the ten-year luck cycle you're in right now, month by month.
Saju readings are meant for self-reflection and personal growth, not as a substitute for professional financial, medical, or legal advice. Your choices always shape your life more than any chart can.
